Amauri To Arsenal? - Profile + Video

Palermo hotshot Amauri has been linked with Arsenal this week after mounting speculation in Italian newspapers that the £19 million rated hitman could be on his way to the Emirates.
The highly rated 27 year old is regarded as one of the best forwards in Serie ‘A’ and the Brazilian born front-man has been linked with some of Europe’s top clubs.
Amarui’s agent confirmed The Gunners interest in the player.
“Arsenal is now another team added to the list of teams interested in Amauri,” Mariano Grimaldi told Terra Brazil.
“We have already received proposals from Liverpool and Real Madrid, in addition to what we already had from Juventus.”
Rumours of Amauri’s move to Arsenal continued this week when Arséne Wenger told reporters he was looking for “an experienced player”.
“We will continue to do what we’ve done,” said Wenger at his pre-match press conference. “I will buy but not too much in the summer. My priority is to keep this team together because we are still young, especially in some departments of the team.
“If we can add one player we will do it, not one in each department just one experienced player.”
Take a look at Amauri’s goalscoring stats over the past 5 seasons:

His stats tell aren’t the most impressive, but his overall play is, a powerful forward in the mould of Andiry Shevchenko, more compact and direct, a player who can surprise you at any moment, and of course, a great finisher.

while it s great that we seem to be in the hunt for an estalished striker wudnt villa be a better buy at 20m ? wat about huntelaar ? another striker who seems to be away from the spotlight unlike the 3 mentioned before(amauri/villa/huntelaar) is mario gomes of stuttgart.his team havent done too well and there have been rumours of him wanting to move on even their coach said he’d end up at a bigger club.he’d probably be cheaper than amauri or villa.but considering how rarely arsene get big money established stars. i’d take anyone of these !!!

There’s rumours going around that we could get Amauri for a cut price fee of £3 million.

Good points though mate, and Gomes I feel, wouldn’t fit into Arsenal’s style.

Amauri shouldn’t be Arsenal’s choice at all.
As much as I want signings, I just feel that Amauri isn’t the player we want. He won’t solve our goal problems. With Eduardo out till the end of the year, I think we should focus on buying someone who can bang in the goals and is pacy enough. David Villa type players would come into mind.
Besides, Wenger might consider having a goalscoring midfielder or at least a midfielder capable of providing direct style to Arsenal’s style.
Therefore, Amauri shouldn’t be the one we go for, even if we could get him for a cut price.
