Bendtner: I want a starting place

March 18, 2008

Our very own Young Dane - Nicklas Bendtner, has signalled his intent towards a starting place before the end of the season.

The 20-year-old has only made 2 Premier League starts and certainly has proved to Le Boss that he’s worthy of a starting place.

“I need to obviously get more games,” Bendtner told Arsenal TV.

“The more you play with the team as a regular starter, then the more you get to learn and know the team.

“If I can get a good run in the side, then I am sure you will see that I can do it.”

Personally, I believe Nicklas can get a starting place, with RVP’s countless injuries & fitness worries and of course Eduardo’s freak injury which will give more chances to the likes of Bendtner. There must be a place for him in the team at some point?

What do you think? Should Bendtner be in the starting line up? Or do you think Le Boss is keeping him and Ade apart after their infamous clash at S**te Hart Lane?

More tomorrow…

No Boro appeal for Mido red card

Mido sees red

It was a poor evening on Saturday for Arsenal, not only did they drop another 2 points in the Premier League, their no 1. left-back Gael Clichy got hurt in a clash with former Spurs striker Mido who caught him in the face with his boot.

The Frenchman came off with claret pouring from his face, the challenge seemed innocuous but let’s face it, Mido’s reputation probably had a say in the sending off.

Boro manager Gareth Southgate said:

“Having spoken to the referee’s chief and to the referee himself, their feeling is that the decision wouldn’t be altered,” Southgate said.

“Whether or not there is intent is no longer considered, it’s about whether a challenge puts the opponent in danger.

“At no time has anybody suggested Mido intended to do what he did, but unfortunately it is perceived a dangerous play because he caught the lad.

“We’re not very happy about it but I can see why the referee has sent the lad off under those rules. But a three-match ban is very harsh.”

I agree with Southgate there, it seems the faster, stronger and better this amazing league is becoming, more challenges which look like ‘little’ are going to be punished.
